Breakfast
One morning, the kitchen was filled with warm, golden sunlight.
Curiously gazing at her tall stack of pancakes with butter and berries, five-year-old Anna sat at the table with her grandfather. “Grandpa,” she said, “everyone keeps asking me what I want to do when I grow up. There are so many choices. So many things I think I would LOVE!”
Grandpa smiled proudly at Anna and her profound question. “A world of possibilities is a wonderful thing to notice,” he said. “You do not have to choose just one today. How about we take a walk through town? We can see what other people are doing, and ask them why. Sometimes knowing the why behind what you do is more important than what you actually do.”
Anna hopped down from her chair. “Yes! Let’s go!”
Bakery
The first place they visited smelled like warm bread and cinnamon.
Miss Rose, the baker, stepped away from her large brick oven carrying a tray of golden muffins.
“The smell here is delicious! Why do you bake muffins, Miss Rose?” Anna asked.
“I bake because my bakery creations can warm even the coldest of hearts,” said Miss Rose.
“A simple muffin can help a neighbor smile, and make stepping into my bakery feel like their own cozy kitchen.”
Anna took a deep breath.
She noticed how baking created a comforting place where the whole neighborhood could feel at home.
